It is time to clear your throats, wipe your fogged up bathroom mirror, hold up your imaginary mic and belt out that tune as you pratice to become Nigeria’s next Omawunmi or Iyanya or…

The musical talent shows are back again this year.

First up the metamorphosed Idols. It started around these parts as Idols West Africa. But these days with a new production team it is going to be tagged Nigerian Idol. The most intriguing thing about WA Idols was what happened after the show. We all know Timi won but hey, Omawunmi is the real winner, right?

Auditions for Naija Sings started yesterday 15th July, will run till 7th August and holds at the following venues around the country: FRAME 24 STUDIOS (Phillips Building, Ojota Bus Stop) BENIN CITY – 17th & 18th July; CONSTANTIAL HOTEL (24/26 Airport/Ogba Road Benin) ENUGU – 20th & 21st July; DANNIC HOTEL, GRACE ROOM (3 Edem Close, upper Chime road New Haven) PORT HARCOURT – 23rd & 24th July; HOTEL PRESIDENTIAL, CONFERENCE ROOM 1 (GRA phase II, Aba road, Port Harcourt)CALABAR – 26th & 27th July; CULTURAL CENTRE (Mary Slessor Avenue, Calabar) KANO – 31st July & 1st August – ROYAL TROPICANA HOTEL, BANQUET ROOM (17/19 Niger Street, Kano) ABUJA – 3rd & 4th August: BOLINGO HOTEL, IMO ROOM (Independence Avenue, Central Business District Abuja).

So far the most consistent of all these has been MTN Project Fame which gave us Iyanya, Mike Anyasodo and… who next? The opening gala night show will be aired on Sunday 18th July.

Apart from being entertaining, these shows have made stars out of unknowns and lots of money for “plenty people”. So… ARE YOU READY TO COME OUT OF YOUR BATHROOM?!!!
