War of Words

It’s been an online showdown between The Guardian’s Reuben Abati and Naija’s own Banky W.

Apparently, Uncle Reub let off some steam in his column about words like ‘Naija’ and ‘Nigezie’ – which he spelled wrong.

Naija celebs vex o! and Banky W stepped up to the plate and took a swing for the team – albeit politely – about, amongst other things, his last name, which was also misspelled. Round 1 to Mr. Capable!

eLDee the Don has also joined the fray – on the pages of the Questionmark website.

Speaking of brawls…

Crihanna appeared in court, Monday, where Chris Breezy pleaded “guilty” to felony assault.

Instead of being thrown into prison for bashing his girlfriend’s face in, Chris Brown will serve 5 years probation and 6 months community service. Yeah, and he can’t be less than 50 yards from Rihanna, except at industry events when it’s 10 yards – Finally! They can break-up for real!

In these days of spending restraint (we hope), rapper Mos Def has given the world one more two for one item – for 40 US dollars, his new album ‘The Ecstatic’ is available as…a tee shirt. Yes, ladies and gentlemen. The front features the album cover art, the back has the track listings and there’s a unique download code on the swing tag.

Soundscan isn’t exactly “ecstatic” about this and say that the tees’ sales will not be counted as album sales
